Airfix A12050 HS/BAE Nimrod Limited Edition 1:72 Kit (Large)

 Airfix is proud to release the superb illustration that will be featured on the box of the 1:72 BAe Nimrod MR-2P, due for release Oct 07. First announced at the annual IPMS Scale Model World at Telford, UK, in November of 2005, the prospect of ‘The Mighty Hunter’ in injection-moulded 1:72 scale was the biggest news of the show. John D. Jones’ illustration shows XV250 with the “Maid of Moray” nose art operating in the second Gulf War. The Nimrod is depicted flying a daytime mission over water in its classic anti-shipping role. Flares are being released from the BOZ pods situated underneath the wings as defence against surface-to-air missiles, and a vivid sky gives an atmospheric backdrop

• The world’s only jet maritime reconnaissance aircraft and submarine hunter has been in service with the RAF for over three decades and has seen service in a number of conflicts around the world. The kits will feature options for the MR.1, R.1 and MR.2/2P, which features the in-flight refuelling probe and Electronic Sensing Measure on the wing.
